It\u2019s a challenge to keep\u00a0 new plantings consistently moist without over watering. The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.surroundslandscaping.com\/landscape-irrigation-design-tips-for-northern-virginia-homeowners\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">irrigation <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">system settings must be correctly adjusted for the needs of the various types of plants. For example, we must take care to not over water evergreens or under water perennials. New turf requires extra attention because it is extremely sensitive to moisture and can easily dry out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><b>2 Soil Testing.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We do periodic soil testing to ensure garden plants and turf are able to absorb the nutrients they need for healthy growth. Based on the results we get from the initial soil tests, we usually amend soil on the entire property during construction so we can get great returns on the growth later. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.surroundslandscaping.com\/healthy-soil-the-foundation-of-all-your-landscaping-efforts-part-1\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Healthy soil<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the foundation for a thriving landscape.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><b>3 Pest and Disease Management.\u00a0<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even though we use high-quality nursery stock, we actively monitor new plants for signs of disease or pest infestation.
